Date Nut Bread - A Holiday Tradition

Growing up, my husband’s mother always made this during the holiday. So it has also become our family holiday tradition.

Ingredients:
1 cup (8-oz. pkg.) chopped dates
¾ cup hot water
¾ cup brown sugar (light brown)
1 Tablespoon butter
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

Combine hot water and chopped dates; let stand until cooled. Cream brown sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix. Add dates and chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes in a loaf pan or vegetable tins.

Sausage ~Cracker Stuffing

This is our traditional family stuffing; I have been serving it for over 20 years. Thanksgiving would not be Thanksgiving without it.
